Bogusław Pacek

Bogusław Pacek – Professor, PhD, Lieutenant General (Ret.), Honorary Doctor of the National Defense University of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Ukrainian Air Force University in Kharkiv, lecturer at Jagiellonian University, and Director of the Polish Army Museum.

He graduated with a degree in humanities from the University of Gdańsk, where he also worked as a philologist. During his studies and tenure at the University of Gdańsk, he was an active promoter of student culture. From 1979 to 2014, he served as an officer in the Polish Armed Forces, holding positions such as Chief Commander of the Military Police, Deputy Commander of the EU Military Operation in Chad and the Central African Republic, Assistant to the Chief of General Staff for Land and Special Forces, Advisor to the Minister of National Defense, Rector of the National Defense Academy, Leader of the NATO DEEP Program in Ukraine, and NATO Advisor on military education reform in Ukraine. In 1990, he earned a PhD in the humanities, and in 2009, he received his post-doctoral degree (habilitation) in military sciences in the field of international security. Alongside his military service, since 1990, he has been a lecturer in psychology and subjects related to political science and security studies at the Naval Academy, University of Gdańsk, Pomezańskie Theological College, TWP-Wszechnica Polska, Jan Kochanowski University, and the National Defense Academy. From 2014 to 2016, he was a member of the Senior Advisory Council of the PfP Consortium and served on the seven-member international SAC management team (an organization for universities and research institutes from 80 countries focused on security). From 2014 to 2015, he represented Poland as a member of the NATO Science and Technology Board. From 2013 to 2016, he served on the Scientific Council of the Baltic Defense College in Estonia (BALTDEFCOL). From 2017 to 2020, he was a member of the Security Education Team of the Educational Sciences Committee at the Polish Academy of Sciences. He has authored over 20 books and several hundred articles on security-related topics. He is the founder and president of the Foundation for the Institute of International Security and Development. Since March 1, 2018, he has been a professor at the Institute of Middle and Far Eastern Studies at Jagiellonian University. As of February 24, 2024, he is the Director of the Polish Army Museum.
