Andrzej Bart is a writer, screenwriter, and director. His novel The Flytrap Factory (published in 2008 and nominated for the Nike Literary Award) is dedicated to the theme of the Łódź ghetto and its leader, Chaim Rumkowski. It has been published multiple times in Poland and abroad. “This is truly great literature,” wrote Eva Menasse for Die Welt. “It does not provide answers but poses complex questions about ourselves; it considers every side and waits for the reader to better understand Rumkowski’s cynical dilemma. However, it does not fit into a narrow framework of assigning ‘guilty’ or ‘innocent.’”
