He gained diplomatic experience in diplomatic missions in Poland and Finland, where he worked from 1996 to 1999 and from 2001 to 2006. From 1999 to 2001, worked as senior coordinator of the PAUCI Foundation in Ukraine.
From 2006 to 2008, he held the position of spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From 2008 to 2012, he served as Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland and Iceland. From 2012 to 2013, he acted as Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman on Conflict Resolution. In 2014, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland from 2014 to 2022.
