Petra Hůlová

Prose writer, graduate in Mongolian studies and cultural studies, one of the most prominent Czech authors. Translated into many languages (including English, German, Italian, French, Swedish, Hungarian).

Winner of all the most important Czech literary prizes: the Magnesia Litera, the Josef Škvoretsky Award, the Jiří Orten Award, the Book of the Year Award of the daily Lidové Noviny.

The author of twelve novels, she is also creatively involved in theater. Based on three of her books Umělohmotný třípokoj (Plastic M3), Macocha and Stručné dějiny Hnutí (Short History of the Movement), theatrical plays were written. She also writes stage texts (Buňka číslo, Strážci občanského dobra 2, Švejk / Schwejk – as co-author) and theatrical adaptations (the novel Concrete Garden by Ian McEwan).
